Bowling Green State University is committed to the idea of lifelong learning. The SAGE program offers college-level learning opportunities to Ohio residents 60 years of age or older.

SAGE students may audit (attend for no credit) BGSU credit courses if class space is available. SAGE students pay no tuition and are responsible only for textbooks, lab fees, and any special fees required in a particular course.

Eligibility for the SAGE program

You must:

  • Be 60 years of age or older
  • Have resided in Ohio for the past 12 months
  • Register for classes each semester with the SAGE coordinator in Adult Learner Services, Continuing & Extended Education
  • Be admitted to the course by the instructor
  • Complete a short eligibility statement

Learning can be fun, and with SAGE it's affordable and accessible as well

Adult Learner Services and the SAGE program open the door to virtually unlimited learning opportunities for senior adults. If you want to enhance your skills, engage in serious intellectual inquiry or take courses for the sheer pleasure of learning, you can participate in SAGE at minimal or no cost.

We will provide individualized assistance through the planning and registration processes. We invite you to call or visit our office to see what we have to offer. We are here to help you.


Courses

You may apply to take credit courses listed on the BGSU Web site if space is available.

Credit

You will not receive official grades or academic credit for courses you take. You will not formally be admitted as a BGSU student or have the courses you take listed on a transcript if you choose the SAGE option.

Academic Requirements

In most cases, you will be expected to complete reading assignments for courses in which you enroll. You will ordinaly not be required to complete examinations or papers.

Library

The SAGE coordinator will issue you a free identification card that will entitle you to University Library privileges. If needed, we can also assist you in obtaining an Internet account.

Parking

The SAGE coordinator will issue you a free parking pass for any semester during which you are taking one or more courses.
